Installation
Install the Maxi_Cosi AxissFix in your car, using its ISOFIX connectors and top tether, making the installation safe and practical. Check the user manual or read our checklist for a correct ISOFIX installation.
After attaching the AxissFix to your car’s ISOFIX connectors, you should connect the top tether to the anchor point in your vehicle. This will provide you with a very safe, stable, easy and proper installation. Securing your child in the seat is even easier as the swiveling seat faces outwards!

Maxi-Cosi AxissFix complies with the latest European i-Size safety standard for improved side impact protection. This means our AxissFix offers optimal head, neck and body protection, while enabling up to 87 cm (approx. 2 years) of rear-facing travel, which is considered the safest position for children to travel in.
AxissFix offers an easy and safe ISOFIX installation, and its Top Tether system makes the installation even more secure by reducing forward movement. The indicators notify you when the ISOFIX installation and Top Tether tensioning are correct. The impact-absorbing material in the headrest of AxissFix car seat provides your little one with extra protection.
For maximum safety, our AxissFix swivel car seat, offers three additional features: the 5-point integral safety harness; the anti-slip shoulder pads for high restraint performance in case of a frontal impact; and an Automatic Safety Belt for making sure the seat and base are always connected.

The AxissFix complies with the latest European i-Size safety standard. You can use AxissFix in the rear-facing position first, and then in the forward-facing position. What is ISOFIX?
ISOFIX is an international standardized fitting system, which provides the safest, easiest and quickest way to install a child car seat correctly without the need of vehicle seat belts. The name ISOFIX stands for ISO (International Standardization Organization) plus FIX (Fixation). ISOFIX car seats make use of two standard attachment points located at the base of the seat, plus an anti-tipping forward device: either a support leg or top tether. From 2006 all new cars are equipped with ISOFIX, and ISOFIX is also fitted in a large number of car brands built prior to 2006.
My child climbs out of the safety harness, what can I do?
The same principle applies to all car seats and means that your child cannot create extra space if there is no extra space to begin with. Some children have shown us that, with only a minimum of slack in the belt system, they can get a hand between the buckle and their stomach and then, by moving it towards their head, they can get an elbow under the belts – but this requires a very flexible shoulder. These children display a tremendous desire to free themselves from their car seat. Child safety in the car and freedom of movement are not compatible in principle. To transport a child not only safely but also comfortably, a slight amount of slack in the belt system is needed. If the belt is pulled extremely tightly and the child is sitting calmly in the car seat, experience has taught us that all car seats are the same when it comes to 'climbing out of the car seat'. We see a similar pattern in children ages 1-4 years in car seats of various types and from various manufacturers. The belt system is a closed system that keeps the child in the same position continuously - during normal car trips as well as during a sudden stop or accident. This system is closed by securing the child when tightening the belts. The AxissFix Plus complies with i-Size (R129) regulation. What does that mean ?
i-Size (R129) is a new European regulation, active from July 2013, that aims at increasing children safety in car by supporting rearward facing travelling up to at least 15 months, promoting universal ISOFIX installation, and improving safety standards for additional protection for head and neck. Why is the classification on the AxissFix Plus in length and not in weight?
The Maxi-Cosi AxissFix Plus complies with the new i-Size (R129) regulation, and this change is part of i-Size. It is done in order to make it easier for parents to choose the right car seat for their child, and thereby minimize premature up-sizing of the car seat. The size will now be the new reference to choose the correct car seat. Nevertheless, weight are still taken in account as i-Size regulation also mentions that weight of the car seat + weight of the child should not overtake 33kg. Consequently, the AxissFix Plus is suitable baby and toddlers from 45 to 105cm length, and maximum 19kg weight.
When can my child switch from an infant car seat to the Maxi-Cosi AxissFix ?
The Maxi-Cosi AxissFix is suitable for children from 61cm to 105cm (approx. 4months to 4years). Nevertheless, we encourage you to continue using an infant carrier as long as his head is still protected in the seat as it’s more convenient to move around with you baby (fits on car, but also on strollers) & will bring more comfort and safety to babies due to it ergonomic shape. When the head starts overtaking the shell of the infant carrier, the weight/size of your child exceeds the limit, or when you judge your toddler is too tight on the infant carrier, you can then move your toddler in the AxissFix. Swivel the seat in the rearward facing position to travel with your toddler until 87cm (approx. 2 years) for enhanced head and neck protection.
How do I swivel the AxissFix Plus ?
To swivel the AxissFix Plus from traveling position (rearward or forward facing) to facing you, you only need to pull the handle side of the door to unlock the seat position (no need to use the 2 handles) and swivel the seat facing you. When you want to swivel the seat from facing you to the traveling position, then you only need to swivel the seat itself (no need to use the handle in this case).
A swivelling seat is very convenient but I'm wondering if the AxissFix Plus can come off from its base in case of accidents?
The AxissFix Plus is the successor of the successful Axiss car seat, which has proven over the past 7 years that it’s a reliable and safe car seat. It took a couple of years of R&D research, crash simulation, and a lot of real crash tests performed before launching this new AxissFix Plus car seat. Because it's a 360° swiveling seat, the mechanism has been intensively tested in all configurations to resist to strong forces, and provide a very high level of safety, requested by the new i-Size (R129) regulation. No fear, the AxissFix Plus car seat is a state-of-the-art safety car seat, answering to the high demanding safety criteria defined by the new regulation, and benefits from all the expertise of Maxi-Cosi.
Can I swivel the AxissFix Plus when it’s in recline position?
Yes, the AxissFix Plus can be swivelled even when the seat is in recline position to give you maximum convenience in daily use.
Can the anti-slip shoulder pads material be painful for child during the Summer?
The anti-slip harness pads play an important safety role. It offers high restraint performance by reducing forward facing movement in case of a frontal impact. This material has been selected for this high performance restraint criteria, but also because it’s soft and not painful for the child no matter the temperature in the car. Because it’s part of the safety of the AxissFix Plus, you always need to keep this harness pads on the car seat.
Can I install a play chain in the Automatic Safety Belt (A.S.B) ?
When the AxissFix Plus is installed in rearward-facing, the Automatic Safety Belt is going across, opposite to the door, and is connecting the top of the base to the top of the seat. On this belt, you can attach a soft play chain to entertain the child during the travel. It will not affect the safety as this belt is equipped with a belt winder. Please remove the play chain or the toy before swiveling the seat as it main interfere with the rotation.
My toddler looks very small in this large seat, how can I provide him extra comfort?
The Maxi-Cosi AxissFix is designed for children from 61cm length up to 105 cm (approx. 4years) and the AxissFix Plus is designed for children from birth to 105cm. Ater removing the newborn inlay from the AxissFix Plus or when simply using the AxissFix, you may want an additional inlay to provide extra comfort for your toddler. You can then add the AxissFix Plus/AxissFix Comfort Cushion accessory (sold separately). Made of a super soft Koala fabric, it will help to reduce the seat depth and width, and bring high level of comfort to your toddler up to approximately 6/8 months old.

This is not allowed. The AxissFix Plus newborn inlay has been configured and homologated for use with the AxissFix Plus only, ensuring a safe use of the AxissFix Plus from birth (45 cm).
Using the AxissFix Plus newborn inlay in the AxissFix will make the seat uncompliant with the stringent i-Size (R129) safety requirements.
How to switch the AxissFix/AxissFix Plus car seat from rearward to forward facing?
To switch from rearward to forward facing, you need to select the forward facing position in the central dash board, and swivel the seat to the forward facing position. Once the position is selected, you will be able to only swivel the seat from facing you to traveling position to avoid any mistake of installation in daily use.

How do I adjust the AxissFix/AxissFix Plus headrest?
To adjust the headrest, you need first to loosen the harness by pushing the harness soft adjuster button, and pull out the harness belts. Once done, you can then press the command at the top the headrest to adjust the height.
I am unable to adjust the headrest on the Maxi-Cosi AxissFix. What should I do ?
The headrest is also used to adjust the height of the harness belts. To adjust the headrest, you need to first to loosen the harness by pushing the harness soft adjuster button, and pull out the harness belts. If you hold down the button at the top of the headrest, you can adjust the headrest by moving it up or down.
How do I adjust the AxissFix/AxissFix Plus harness?
The harness is adjustable together with the headrest. To adjust the harness, you need to first loosen the harness by pushing the harness soft adjuster button, and pull out the harness belts. Then, you will be able to adjust the headrest by holding down the button at the top of the headrest, you can adjust the headrest by moving it up or down. Once done, you can install the child and tight the harness by using the harness adjuster strap at the front.
How many sitting and sleeping positions does the AxissFix/AxissFix Plus have?
The AxissFix/AxissFix Plus has four comfortable positions - from a sitting to a sleeping position - and can be easily adjusted from the front of the seat. For extra convenience, you can adjust the recline whatever the seat position (rearward facing / facing you / forward facing), and swivel the seat when reclined.
Where can I find the handle to adjust the recline position on the AxissFix/AxissFix Plus?
The recline handle can be found at the front of the seat, and can be used in all seat positions (rearward facing / facing you/ forward facing).
Can I swivel the AxissFix/AxissFix Plus when it’s in recline position?
Yes, the AxissFix/AxissFix Plus can be swivelled even when the seat is in recline position to give you maximum convenience in daily use.
How can I wash the AxissFix/AxissFix Plus cover?
The cover and the shoulder pads can be removed for washing. Before cleaning, check the label sewn into the different part of the fabric, you will find the wash symbols indicating the method of washing each item. If the cover needs to be replaced at any time, only use an official Maxi-Cosi cover because it constitute an integral part of the restraint performance. To clean the shell, yo can use a damp cloth.
